How to control driving test nerves
Driving test nerves - How to control them
Below is a story we picked up from a site where the learner driver is suffering from test nerves..
The person was not one of our learners.. We have included this article as it may be of help to other learner drivers in the same situation..

Question
I have taken my driving test twice and failed both times because of my nerves.
My instructor says I am an excellent, confident driver up until the hour of my test.
I am then unable to concentrate and panic because I am so nervous.
I was wondering whether there was anything I could take to help calm me down for my test.
I have tried Kalms for both of my previous tests but they had no effect - they just made me sleepy.
Answer
Some people use a low dose of beta-blocker to help with nerves – however, these have side effects which can make the situation worse.
In the long term, if this is a regular problem for you, seeing a cognitive behavioural therapy specialist may be of help as they can teach you techniques to over come your nerves.
However, if you just want some help for this specific problem, I can recommend a homeopathic medicine. I've treated many patients in general practice with just the same problem.
Homeopathic medicines are safe and don't impair your responses in the way a drug would. There are two to consider and it depends on the way stress affects you.
If you feel shaky, get tummy rumbling, diarrhoea and so on before your test, try 'Argentum nitricum'.
If, on the other hand, you get a kind of stage fright where you just can't think and your body won't do what you want it to do - a kind of paralysis - then try 'Gelsemium'.
Both can be bought in the local pharmacy. Buy a 30c strength and suck one every couple of hours from the night before and through the morning of the test.

Typically some driving schools do mock tests which is carried out by thier own driving instructor. At least one mock testshould be done by an expert mock test examiner... We would normally advise having 2 independent mock tests eachcarried out by 2 different expertindependent mock driving test examiners.
